The Wise Judgment Consortium (WJC) invites researchers in psychology and other cognitive and decision sciences to pitch their favourite research idea for the upcoming Pathways to Wisdom project.
Who we are
The WJC brings together an international team of researchers to uncover how cultural, ecological, and situational factors influence the decisions we make every day. Our interdisciplinary team combines cultural psychology, natural language processing/LLMs, computational modelling, and psychometrics.
About this opportunity
In our Pathways to Wisdom project, national samples of participants from over 15 countries will respond to realistic scenarios based on most representative difficult life decisions collected in our previous research. The goal is to understand how people think about navigating these life decisions.
We offer a unique opportunity to include additional instruments and therefore seek proposals for succinct instruments/questions to include. Researchers have an opportunity to pitch their idea: Briefly explain how it can advance your field, and describe your chosen instrument. The proposed instruments / questions should not take more than 3 minutes to complete online.
Submission guidelines
Your proposal should include:
- Research question / hypothesis: What do you want to test, and why? Please also include a statement of relevance (max. 300-350 words).
- Proposed instrument or question set: Include items and response format (max. 3 min).
- Supporting information: Briefly note any existing reliability/validity evidence or prior use, if available.
Review of proposals
All submissions before the deadline will be reviewed by the WJC research committee based on:
- Theoretical relevance and novelty of the proposed research question
- Feasibility for inclusion in a large, cross-cultural study
Benefits
Contributors of selected proposals will be:
- Granted access to the relevant datasets for their analyses
- Eligible for primary authorship on manuscripts stemming from their proposed question
- Included as co-authors on core Pathways to Wisdom project publications
